Asia

The work of Hisportic Global in Asia represents a new and growing frontier for Portuguese-speaking ministry. Our outreach is based in a former Portuguese region known for its cultural diversity and deep spiritual need. In 2020, HCM began serving here by building relationships, supporting families, and planting small, home-based gatherings that have become centers of prayer, worship, and hope.

The early years were marked by both challenge and opportunity. Political restrictions and pandemic conditions created significant obstacles, yet God’s faithfulness opened doors for ministry among families, children, and workers. Today, HCM supports multiple home prayer groups, assists with education and food relief, and invests in creative Business as Mission (BAM) initiatives that provide both income and dignity for local believers.

Through these efforts, lives are being changed — not only spiritually, but economically and socially. In a region where many people have never heard the Gospel, HCM’s ministry continues to grow, grounded in relationship, compassion, and the unshakable hope of Christ.

ENTREPRENEURIAL ENTERPRISES

To build self-sustaining communities, Hisportic Global encourages entrepreneurship rooted in integrity and stewardship. By supporting small business initiatives, we help families and local churches thrive economically and spiritually.

NewCycle was founded for this very purpose. NewCycle’s Tailoring Outreach is divided into two groups: novice and advanced.  The novice group learns the basic skills required to design, sew, and embroider various clothing articles, bags, and other products.  The knowledge they gain gives them the proficiency to move to the advanced group.

The advanced group focuses on creating and selling two particular items: handbags made out of jute grass and reusable sanitary pads for women.  Jute is a durable and natural fiber made from the Corchorus plant.

The plant is a slender reed that grows to 13 feet tall and can be spun into thread. The thread is light brown, earning it the name of “golden fiber” due to its color and affordability. Since the plants are grown in South Asia, Jute is an inexpensive indigenous product.  All NewCycle bags are handmade and inspected for highest quality.

The reusable pads are also a high-quality product that has helped thousands of young women who cannot afford disposable pads.  These pads are distributed free of charge to groups of women who meet to be instructed on its value and use, and who are taught about the spiritual significance of womanhood.  The name of this outreach is Pavitra Eco Care (Pavitra means Purity).

BASIC EDUCATION

NewCycle also sponsors an educational outreach to groups of school-age children in two separate regional shanty towns. The strategy is to begin with a weekly visit led by local volunteers that includes singing, lessons, and crafts.  After building relationships with the children, their parents, and the shanty town leaders, they then measure the viability of turning that outreach into a full-time informal school that is led by teachers who meet with the children for the entire week. In this setting, the children learn math, English, history, art, and other subjects of interest.

One of our groups has reached the end goal of this process and has been named Little Lighthouse School. The other group is still in its first step of this progression. Both show clear fruit, the Fruit of the Spirit are visible and tangible in both: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

NEW CHURCH PLANTS

One more step completes NewCycle’s ultimate vision of facilitating local pastors to partner with them through prayer meetings and worship services.  Building on the relationships formed through other outreaches, the shanty town’s parents and leaders are invited to meet for prayer and fellowship.

This strategy was implemented over ten years ago through another educational outreach, resulting in a thriving church community (top photo).  Currently, another group of seekers is taking shape with NewCycle’s present outreach (bottom photos).
