West Africa

Hisportic Christian Mission began its work in Guinea-Bissau in 2000, stepping into one of the world’s smallest and poorest Portuguese-speaking nations with a big vision — to plant churches, train leaders, and bring the hope of Christ to every corner of the country.

What started as six churches and two small schools has grown into a thriving network of more than 20 congregations, three schools, and hundreds of believers across Guinea-Bissau. Each church represents a story of faith, sacrifice, and perseverance — led by local pastors who are building up their own communities through worship, teaching, and service.

Beyond church planting, HCM’s work in West Africa now includes education, leadership development, entrepreneurship, and community outreach — all designed to help believers grow strong in both faith and daily life.

Church Planting

The heart of HCM’s mission in Africa remains the planting of healthy, self-sustaining churches led by national pastors. Each new congregation is more than a building — it’s a center for worship, discipleship, and transformation within the community. As the network expands, pastors continue to receive mentoring and theological training, helping them lead with confidence and biblical conviction.

Baptisms

Each year, hundreds of men, women, and children publicly profess their faith in Christ through baptism. These celebrations take place in rivers, lakes, and streams across the country — powerful reminders of the life-changing work of the Gospel and the growing reach of the local church.

Education

HCM currently operates three elementary schools that provide a Christ-centered education for hundreds of children in Guinea-Bissau. These schools combine academic learning with biblical principles, giving students hope for their future and the opportunity to discover God’s purpose for their lives. Our long-term goal is to expand access to education by establishing additional campuses throughout the region.

Teacher Training

Training teachers is essential to building the next generation of Christian education in Guinea-Bissau. HCM regularly hosts workshops and mentoring sessions that equip educators with practical teaching tools and spiritual encouragement. These teachers not only shape minds in the classroom — they shape hearts for Christ.

Leadership Development

Strong churches depend on strong leaders. Through regular gatherings, conferences, and in-depth training sessions, HCM invests in developing pastors and ministry leaders who are committed to sound doctrine, faithful service, and community transformation.

A new initiative, the Institute of Development and Evangelism (IDE), is being formed to provide formal biblical and vocational training for leaders throughout Guinea-Bissau.
